Custom Voicetracks

Custom voicetracks enable presenters to record split links or station-specific voicetracks on stations that share the same programming log.

For example, voicetracks recorded into Station A's logs can be shared with Stations B, C, D, and E. Without custom voicetracks, the satellite stations will receive the same voicetracks as those recorded in the main log. With custom voicetracks, each station can have split links with local content.

Prerequisites

Custom voicetracks are only available for voicetracks recorded in WebVT and for stations that are already configured with Synchroniser to sync music logs and audio.

Synchroniser

To configure Synchroniser for custom voicetracks, follow the steps below:

  1. Go to Station settings
  2. For each station you wish to record custom voicetracks for, edit the Station settings and check the 'Enable CVT' box. You'll also need to specify a Custom Voice Track Prefix. This can be any two alphanumeric characters, but must be unique to each station.
  3. If you'd like to specify a daypart for when CVTs can be recorded for each station, you can set this by pressing the 'Custom Voice Track Hours' button.

WebVT

Using custom voicetracks in WebVT is simple once you have everything set up and synchronising. The first thing you will notice is that in WebVT, during hours when custom voicetracks are allowed, there will be an option on the right-click menu on the log:

When you select this, the Custom Voicetracks Panel will open to the right:

From here, you can control the custom voicetracks. As you can see in the example above, there is no voicetrack currently in use.

Recording a voicetrack

To record a custom voicetrack, you don't need placeholders or notes in the log to indicate where they will go. You just decide and then record on your main station.

Once the voicetrack is saved, you will see it in the log as per usual.

On the Custom Voicetrack panel, however, you will notice the voicetrack. As before, it says there is no corresponding voicetrack in the other stations....

Now, click on the next station for which you want to record a voicetrack. In this example, it's True Chilled:

You will notice the log doesn't change. It still shows the voicetrack you recorded on the master station:

Now, when you record, you are creating a voicetrack for this chosen station. The original voicetrack is not used. When this voicetrack is saved to the log, you will see that it has a special UID related to the satellite station:

You will also see this in the Custom Voicetracks Panel.

From this point, you can leave things the way they are, or you can re-record or delete any of the voicetracks.

Deleting voicetracks

If you delete the master voicetrack on your main station, it will remove all custom voicetracks associated with it.

If you just want to delete a custom voicetrack, then you can do this without affecting any other custom voicetracks associated with it.

Custom voicetracks do not share envelopes, so any envelopes you adjust on the items before and after the voicetrack are adjusted for just that voicetrack.

The same goes for segue points. If you want to tighten a custom voicetrack's segue point, you can do so without affecting other stations' associated voicetracks.
