Contests in Studio Inbox
Studio Inbox includes a built-in contests feature that lets you easily manage SMS-based competitions that comply with broadcast regulations, such as the UK's Ofcom Broadcasting Code.
Contests can currently only be run using SMS shortcodes for entry. Email, WhatsApp and app interactions cannot be used to enter contests.
On this page, we'll explain how to create a contest and randomly select a winner from valid entries.
Creating a contest
To create a contest, open your Studio Inbox workspace and click the 'Contests' button on the sidebar - the trophy icon (🏆).
You can then create a new contest or edit an existing one, giving it a name, start/end times, which SMS source to monitor for entries, and the text a message should contain to be a potential winner:
The contest will open/close automatically at the specified date and time, but you can also open or close it manually if required.
Selecting a winner
After the contest has closed, you can randomly select one or more winners who sent a message matching the criteria you set when the contest was created.
This won't notify the winner, but it will provide their contact details.
Winners are selected at random, including contacts hidden from your Studio Inbox workspace if they sent a message that met the winning criteria.
