Why do waveforms look different between PlayoutONE on Windows and WebVT?

You may have noticed that audio file waveforms appear different when viewed in PlayoutONE on Windows versus in WebVT.

This can occur when a source file is very quiet, because some parts of the PlayoutONE suite reflect your station's LUFS normalisation settings when rendering peak waveforms, whereas other components do not.

PlayoutONE's Media Editor (top) uses the station's stored LUFS value to adjust peaks, while WebVT (bottom) shows the waveform as the file actually is.

If you notice any substantial discrepancies between how waveforms are presented, we recommend normalising your audio file.
