Using Futuri AudioAI with PlayoutONE

PlayoutONE is one of the first radio automation systems to support integration with Futuri's AudioAI (previously known as RadioGPT).

Once you have your AudioAI account set up with Futuri, it only takes a few steps to get started with PlayoutONE.

🛑 Prerequisites

You will need an AudioAI account set up. To get this, you need to contact Futuri.

You will also need to have been trained by Futuri and have created your break notes, which you will use to link PlayoutONE to AudioAI.

Please do not continue to set up AudioAI in PlayoutONE if you have not done the above, as it won't work.

🔄 Auto Importer

The first thing you will need to set up is a job in Auto Importer that will ingest the audio downloaded from AudioAI. This should be set up as a New UID job.

Imported AudioAI jobs have a special .faai file extension when downloaded in FileCopy, so that's all you need to do.

You can set the audio to normalise if you wish, but everything else like extra marks will be taken care of automatically.

📁 FileCopy

The next step is to set up FileCopy. You should add a new job and for the Source select AudioAI.

Enter your details as provided by Futuri for the AudioAI system and choose the Auto Importer job you set up in the previous step.

To ensure you have access to the AudioAI system you can click 'Check' which will tell you either way if you have access.

The Song window settings tell FileCopy how many song titles and artists to send to the AudioAI API so it has this information should it be required to provide back-announced content or song teases.

You then should set the Schedule you want this job to run on.

We suggest running it every 10 minutes and every day of the week. If you're only needing it for specific days and hours then feel free to set the days and dayparts accordingly.

If there are no AudioAI GPT breaks in your log then no requests will be sent to the API, so don't worry about unnecessary traffic.

Once you have done this you can click 'Save' or 'Update Job'.

🔊 PlayoutONE

As soon as a FileCopy job has been set up then the AudioAI Break Note option will appear on the pop-up Insert menu in PlayoutONE.

This allows you to manually insert a break note into the log and also allows you to create the break notes for easy recall.

These break notes are what are used to let the AudioAI API know what it needs to be doing. However, the real power behind this is the ability to schedule these break notes from within your scheduler.

To do this you need to position these break notes in your clocks as notes and have the titles begin with '[GPT]' so when you see it in the log in PlayoutONE it will look like this:

AudioAI links will be prefixed with [GPT] in the log

You will also note the red icon, which signifies that this is an AudioAI break note.

This icon changes colour depending on its status:

  • Red indicates it has not yet been requested.
  • Amber means it has been requested but hasn't yet been processed.
  • Green is when it has been fully downloaded and is ready to play.

If you want any links to talk up to the vocals of songs, then you should consider setting the oversweep on these break notes, as this is not automatically done.

You also have access to re-process an AudioAI link. The reason you may want to do this is you have altered the surrounding songs and the current link mentions the original songs.

Once you've altered your log, just choose this, and the system will automatically redo it.

🎙️ WebVT

Like PlayoutONE, as soon as WebVT® detects a FileCopy job for AudioAI, it makes the insert option available for break notes.

This works in a slightly similar way to PlayoutONE in that you get a list of defined break notes.

The main difference in WebVT® though is you cannot create and delete break notes. You can only use what is there or what you enter manually. This is to prevent users from casually messing around, or even by accident, and changing the available notes as WebVT® gives greater access to the system.

Also like in PlayoutONE you have access to reprocessing an AudioAI link. The reason you may want to do this is you have altered the surrounding songs and the current link mentions the original songs.

Once you've altered your log, just choose this, and the system will automatically redo it.
