What's new in PlayoutONE v5.2?

PlayoutONE version 5.2 was released on 23 April 2025, bringing several new features, improvements and bug fixes.

Here is a rundown of everything new in version 5.2:

✨ New features

Mobile support for WebVT You can now go live and record voice-tracked radio shows from Android and iOS devices with WebVT. Just connect a USB-C microphone or other audio interface and use your mobile phone or tablet to create radio wherever you are.
Tags Easily categorise your audio with as many tags as you like, and set which stations can play audio with which tags.
Production Mode Bypass the Audio Engine and play audio direct from a computer's sound card, ideal for production or off-air tasks where you don't want audio to play on air.
LiveMIC troubleshooter Diagnose common issues with LiveMIC in real-time by visiting your station's WebVT URL and adding "/livemic-troubleshooter".
New integrations Connecting PlayoutONE with services like Radio Workflow and MusicMaster is easier than ever.

Performance improvements
  • Improvements in syncing logs with the SQL database
  • Improved performance interfacing with MusicMaster / Nexus
Audio Engine
  • Production Mode: Play audio on a local sound card rather than sending to the Audio Engine.
  • Specific audio types can now be assigned to certain Audio Engine players.
  • New option to delay Audio Engine startup to allow time for required software/drivers to load first.
  • Isolation Mode and standby server improvements.
  • Fixed various issues with LiveMIC.
  • Various improvements to MixPlayer.
  • Fixed an issue where items may not play shortly before their set end date.
  • Fixed an issue where the log could skip backwards to a previous point.
  • Fixed an issue where stream audio could echo if configured incorrectly.
  • xLog dividers are no longer treated as playable items.
  • Output buses can no longer share their own output with the same bus.
Auto Importer
  • Improved MusicMaster / Nexus integration
  • New option to respect or ignore hour locks on Synchroniser imports.
  • New option to mark item as Canadian Content for CRTC compliance.
  • Fixed an issue where the command parameters set may not be stored.
  • Fixed a rare issue where audio would not appear in the Media Finder if it was imported while the database was undergoing maintenance.
Data Controller
  • Fixed an issue where commands may run while in a disabled group.
FIleCopy
  • Improved SFTP support.
  • Fixed an issue where soundcard recordings may not export.
  • Fixed an issue where recording jobs may start late or run on too long.
  • Fixed scheduled jobs set to repeat at set intervals not repeating as scheduled.
  • Fixed an issue where ZIP files may download without their file extension.
  • Fixed an issue where downloads would fail due to being unable to parse server response to PWD command.
LiveStream
  • LiveStream can now send Now Playing metadata to the Aiir CMS without using Monitor (for stations which do not use PlayoutONE as their playout system).
Media Editor
  • Items will kill dates set now expire at the end of the day (23:59:59) rather than the start (00:00:00).
  • Fixed an intermittent issue where some users were unable to open the Media Editor by double-clicking an item in the Media Finder.
  • Fixed an issue where changing audio levels (envelopes) did not save.
  • Fixed an issue where items could be saved into the wrong category if opened in the editor then changed category using MusicMaster.
Monitor
  • Support for Radioplayer internationally.
  • Improvements in handling French characters in metadata.
  • 'Import' folder in PlayoutONE root directory is no longer included in backups.
  • Fixed an issue where Monitor could run out of memory and crash.
  • Fixed an issue where email alerts may not send correctly via Microsoft 365.
  • Fixed an issue where custom metadata may not send via HTTP POST.
  • Fixed an issue which prevented entering/leaving Isolation Mode.
Synchroniser
  • Added the ability to sync scheduled Snippets.
  • Item colors can now be overridden when synchronised between stations.
WebVT
  • Fixed an issue recording audio on MacOS Sequoia
  • Fixed an issue where recording durations would incorrectly show as 00:00:00
  • Fixed an issue where certain hours could not be edited
Miscellaneous
  • New behaviour for playing Quick Keys locally and previewing audio.
  • Improved handling of daylight savings in Template Builder.
  • Improved dynamic metadata handling.
  • Fixed an issue where ripping a CD with normalisation disabled could crash PlayoutONE.
  • Fixed an issue where Greek characters would not display correctly in the log.
  • Fixed an issue with commercial breaks not appearing in the xLog.
  • Fixed an issue where RunToTime would not work when certain log notes were present.
  • Fixed an issue pre-fading audio using the button on the PlayoutONE Keyboard.
  • Fixed an issue where audio brought into PlayoutONE Standard from PlayoutONE Pro could not change its UID.
  • Fixed an issue changing UIDs on PlayoutONE Standard.
  • Fixed an issue where audio may not eject from players in PlayoutONE Standard.
  • Fixed issues mixing down audio in PlayoutONE Standard.
  • Fixed an issue where volume envelope/edit points would not save in PlayoutONE Standard.
  • Fixed an issue where type changes would not save in PlayoutONE Standard.
