Mapping commercial breaks in xLog

xLog includes a commercial mapping table which allows you to create ad breaks which mirror ads scheduled to run in your regular PlayoutONE log, but in custom breaks which can be played at a time convenient for your xLog programming.

For example, if we know during a two-hour sports broadcast, there will be 10 two-minute commercial breaks, we can create the appropriate number of 'Break Placeholders' of the same duration to use when triggered.

You can create an entry which matches each of the breaks during your broadcast:

Break placeholder The name of your break. This could be something generic like "Pre-game" or "Break 1" or used to identify a specific break like "Event sponsor".
Break duration The scheduled length of the break in seconds.
Break fill category An optional fill category used if required to ensure the ad break runs to its correct duration. (eg. if only 90 seconds of ads are scheduled in a 120 second break, it will pull a 30-second ad from your chosen category).
Main log hour The hour your xLog broadcast will commence.
Main log start time When the corresponding commercial break normally runs on the main log. (eg. if the first ad break is usually around 15 minutes into your hour, enter 15 and 00) This will only tell xLog where to look in the main log for the break content, the break will not necessarily play at that time.
Move breaks by
Main log break type How your ad breaks are scheduled in the main log. This is so xLog knows what type of merge to look for in the log.

Once you have created your break placeholders, should you need to make any changes (for example, if the scheduled start time of a sports event changes), you can select the ones you want to update from the commercial mapping table, click the 'Edit' button, and change the property you want to update (for example, changing the main log hour from 7pm to 8pm to pull in different ads).
