'PlayoutONE cannot find the local share'

After upgrading to PlayoutONE Pro version 5, you may encounter an error message saying "PlayoutONE cannot find the local share."

This will likely only happen on production machines, as servers and studio PCs should already have this set up.

The error which may be shown after an update.

If this happens, you can quickly fix it yourself by going to the PlayoutONE installation folder on the affected PC and making it a network share.

To do this, navigate to the PlayoutONE folder on your PC. This is usually:

C:/PlayoutONE

Right-click the folder and open its Properties window, then switch to the 'Sharing' tab:

Then go to the 'Sharing' tab, press 'Advanced Sharing', and tick 'Share this folder', making sure its share name is "PlayoutONE":

Press 'OK', then apply the changes.

Once you've created the PlayoutONE network share, you can re-open PlayoutONE, and it should launch without any issues.

If you still cannot open PlayoutONE, make sure you can access the PlayoutONE share using this network path:

//localhost/PlayoutONE

If you cannot, double-check the share settings above have been set correctly.
