Creating examples to train AI

RadioNewsAI and many artificial intelligence products learn by example.

The more examples it has to work with, the better it will understand your preferred style and be able to replicate it.

Every newscast requires a model it will use to create its content. Think of this as a "style guide" you would give a presenter or journalist to follow.

RadioNewsAI provides a few built-in ones for News, Weather and Traffic - but if you want to customise how your newscasts are scripted, you will need to use a custom model.

Examples for scripting

Once you have created a custom model, you can specify the number of sentences or words you want the stories to run to.

You can also use custom scripts to provide the AI with specific instructions.

In addition to this, a vital step in the process of training your AI model is uploading examples of previous scripts to learn from.

While editing your Model, click the Examples tab at the top to add as many as you like. The more you create, the better the AI will match your written style.

Examples need a title, source content, and newscast content, and they must be enabled for the AI to consider them.

The source content should take the form of the original press release or story you want to re-write for your newscast. For example:

Source content

The third largest city in Switzerland, Basel, has been selected by Host Broadcaster SRG SSR and the EBU to host the 69th Eurovision Song Contest in May 2025. SRG SSR will stage next year’s competition following Nemo’s win in Malmö on 11 May with “The Code”, giving their country its third win in the Contest, and first since Celine Dion took the prize in 1988.  The Grand Final of the 69th Eurovision Song Contest will be held on Saturday 17 May at the St. Jacobshalle with Semi-Finals earlier the same week on Tuesday 13 May and Thursday 15 May. Basel was chosen to welcome participating public broadcasters following a competitive city bid process that examined facilities at the venue, local infrastructure and the ability to accommodate thousands of visiting delegations, crew, fans and journalists from around the world, amongst other criteria. Martin Österdahl, Executive Supervisor of the Eurovision Song Contest said: “The EBU is thrilled that Basel has been selected as the Host City for the Eurovision Song Contest 2025. The Contest was born in Switzerland in Lugano back in 1956 and it’s great to be bringing it back to its birthplace almost 70 years later. “Basel's strategic location at the crossroads of Europe makes it the ideal setting for an event that celebrates the power of music to connect people across borders. “Following Contests in the Italian and French speaking parts of the country in 1956 and 1989 we’re also excited to bring the Eurovision Song Contest to German Switzerland for the very first time." Basel will be hosting the Eurovision Song Contest for the first time. Lugano played host to the inaugural Contest in 1956 when a mere 7 countries took part and “Refrain” by Lys Assia became the very first winner of the Contest – for Switzerland! When Lausanne hosted in 1989, following Celine Dion’s win with “Ne Partez Pas Sans Moi” the year before, the Contest had grown to 22 participants.

Then, in the newscast content field, you should rewrite the source material as you would want it to be read on air:

Newscast content

2025's Eurovision Song Contest is to be held in the Swiss city of Basel. It's the first time it's being held in the German speaking part of the country having previously been hosted in Lugano and Lausanne.

You can create as many examples for each model as you like, and can have different models for different newscasts.

The more examples you add, the better the AI will be at matching your station's style.

Samples for voice cloning

Creating custom voices works the same way. The more samples you can upload, including a range of different styles of stories - good news, bad news, happy news, sad news, weird 'and finally' stories - the better the custom voice will be at matching the real-life example.
