Scheduling music features
Music features like "Guess The Year" or a "Top 10" are a staple part of many stations' programming output.
On this page, we'll explain how you can schedule several popular music features.
These features work best with some manual selection to ensure the scheduled tracks reflect the best your chosen year has to offer. It helps ensure obscure tracks or ones that haven't aged well don't occupy a space in your logs that could have gone to a much-loved hit.
Guess The Year
In your clocks, you could either schedule a note to remind whoever is running your logs to insert that hour's chosen tracks...
...or have a "Guess The Year" fallback category where all the tracks are approved and from the same year to ensure that if someone forgets to swap out the songs, you won't hear a load of sweepers back to back.
Selecting the tracks from your chosen year is really simple. Just open the Library drawer, search for audio, then filter it by music from your chosen year:
You can then drag any matching items from the drawer to the space in the logs.
Top 10
The "Top 10" concept is similar but often relies on choosing songs that charted in a specific position during the chosen year.
To do this, you'll first need to tag any tracks that reached, for example, number 1 in the charts when they were released.
You can then create your clock with placeholder items as described above, then search for music items from your chosen year with the tag you are looking for.
