Removing sweepers around empty commercial breaks
Stations often use production elements like a sweeper or jingle to go into and out from commercial breaks.
If these breaks are empty and don't contain any spots/ads, PlayoutONE can automatically remove them to make your station sound seamless.
On this page, we'll explain how to set this up.
- Open the PlayoutONE Launcher and open Tag Manager.
Create two tags: one for your production going into breaks and another for production coming out of breaks. In our example, we've called these ITB and OOB.
Apply the two tags to all production elements that you want to skip if the
TRAFFICMERGE
point between them were empty. This can be done manually via the Media Editor or using Bulk Operations to apply the tag to all selected items.
Applying tags to a single audio item using the Media Editor > Tags > Add Tag Applying tags to multiple audio items using Bulk Operations > Tags > Add Tag Once your audio has been tagged, go to Monitor > Station Settings > Miscellaneous and specify the tags to remove around empty breaks
PlayoutONE will look ahead in your logs and if any
TRAFFICMERGE
points do not contain any spots/ads, the tags you selected in Monitor will be soft-deleted from the log and not played.
