Getting started with Aiir Connect
Aiir Connect is an app that allows third-party automation systems to more easily integrate with with the Aiir platform, allowing websites, apps and Alexa skills to be kept in sync with your station's playout software.
It can currently be used to update Alexa invocation audio, sync and reconcile with Scheduler, and update your station's now playing metadata.
Installing Aiir Connect
Aiir Connect can be downloaded here. It requires Windows 11 and an administrator/owner account within an active Aiir organisation to work.
If you previously installed our "A3U" app, you will need to remove it before installing Aiir Connect. Your Alexa configuration will be saved in your system's temporary files and can be used by Aiir Connect to set up an Alexa job.
Adding an account
When you first open Aiir Connect, you will need to link it up with a user account in the Aiir organisation you want to connect to.
- Click the 'Accounts' button on the upper-right corner of the main window to connect an Aiir account.
- Click 'Add' and enter the credentials for the Aiir account you wish to use.
- If the user account is part of multiple Aiir organisations, select which ones you want this instance of Aiir Connect to be able to work with.
- Press 'Authorize' to complete the connection.
Creating jobs
After adding an account, you will now be able to set up jobs in the Aiir Connect app:
- Click the 'Add' button in the top-left corner of the main window. The account you previously created will be selected for you.
- Choose the type of job you want to create. Aiir Connect can currently:
| Alexa Skill: Upload audio | Sync audio from your PC with a custom intent in your Aiir-powered Alexa Skill. For example, regularly uploading news.mp3 to overwrite the previous audio on your skill's news intent. |
| Scheduler: Logs and reconciliation | Fetch logs exported from Aiir Scheduler and download them to a folder on your PC to be imported by your automation system. If supported by your software, Connect can also submit a reconciliation report so Scheduler knows which items were played when scheduling future logs. |
| Send now playing data | Keep your Aiir station's now playing data up-to-date by sending an update each time a file on your PC is updated by your automation system. |
- Customise the job name. By default, Aiir Connect will use a combination of the account and job type.
- Configure job-specific properties in the relevant tabs. You can find more information on each type by clicking the links above.
- Once configured, press 'Save'.
The job has been created and will run on your chosen schedule (if applicable) or when required by the task. (For example, when the monitored now playing metadata file updates).
You can also run jobs on demand by selecting them and pressing 'Run Manually' at the top of the main Aiir Connect window.
