Shuffling categories in Scheduler
Categories can be shuffled to rearrange the order of items within them. This can be useful if you have just imported several similar items and don't want Scheduler to order them in a way that sounds predictable or repetitive.
On this page, we'll explain how to shuffle categories, the different ways categories can be scheduled, and how they behave after shuffling.
🔀 Shuffling items
To shuffle a category, open it from the Categories list at the top of Scheduler.
When you see all the items within that category, press 'Shuffle...' in the upper-right corner of the screen.
Shuffling a category applies per station, so if a category is shared across multiple stations in your Scheduler library, you may need to shuffle it for each station.
Categories containing 10,000 items or more cannot currently be shuffled.
📝 Most rested vs highest rank order
Categories can be scheduled in two ways: by the most-rested or the highest rank. This is set when the category is first created and can be updated at any time.
The scheduling behaviour selected for a category will affect how its items behave when shuffled.
Most rested first
For categories scheduled by most-rested items, Scheduler checks to see if any items in the category are currently present in your logs. After the last instance of an item from the category in your logs, Scheduler will use the newly-shuffled order going forward.
If you want the category's items to shuffle sooner, you will need to unschedule the category back to the point you want to shuffle from, shuffle it, then reschedule.
For example, if you import lots of new items into your library and they appear in alphabetical order, to avoid them being scheduled in that order, you should shuffle them in their category before scheduling any logs.
After shuffling a most-rested category, you will see the date and time the category was last shuffled (or when the newly shuffled order will take effect) at the top of the page.
Highest ranked first
Categories scheduled by a custom rank order are re-ordered immediately when shuffled.
