Making mass changes to your Scheduler library

The mass change tool in Aiir Scheduler makes it easy to modify items in your library in bulk.

It can be accessed by selecting multiple audio items or artists from search results, or via the 'Tools' menu in the upper-right corner of your library, then clicking 'Make a mass change'.

Each change is a three-step process which can be carefully planned and previewed ahead of time, so you can be certain any changes are as you expect before Scheduler makes any changes to your library items:

  1. Add filters, which determine which items should be affected by your mass change.
  2. Add actions that describe the changes you want to make to the filtered items.
  3. Apply the changes.

As you complete each step, your progress saves, and you can preview how the items will be modified. This lets you plan a change and return to it later, rather than rushing a potentially major change to your library.

Before applying the changes, you will be prompted to create a backup of your library so you can easily undo them if needed.

You can also give each mass change a name to help you identify what it will do when applied. Changes will automatically be given a name based on the actions you add to help you identify them, or you can choose one that means something to you.

🎯 Filters

You can combine as many filters as needed to ensure only the items you want to select receive your actions.

Items can be filtered by almost any property, such as:

Cart ID Select matching items by Cart ID.
Item is music Select items which are or are not identified as music.
Title Select items with a specific title.
Artist Select items by a specific artist.
Related artist Select items related to a specific artist.
Duration Select items with a certain duration.
Intro Select items with a certain intro length.
Category Select items in a specified category or categories; in a category with a certain number of items; or in a category that are scheduled by most rested/ranked.
Genre Select items which are tagged as being in a specified genre.
Vocal gender Select items tagged with a specified vocal gender.
Tempo Select items tagged with a specified tempo.
Release date Select items released during a specified period.

Last changed Select items last changed by a specified user or at a specified date/time.

Filters marked with an asterisk (*) only apply to certain automation systems.

For example, if you needed to move all the tracks featuring a certain artist currently in one category to another, you could set your filter to include the following fields: Artist, Related artist, and Category.

☑️ Actions

Like filters, actions can be combined to make multiple changes to your selected items at once.

Actions which can be applied during a change include:

Cart ID Apply a new cart ID.
Item is music Items can be tagged as music or non-music.
Title Items can be given a new title.
Artist Items can be associated with a new artist.
Duration Update the duration of the filtered items.
Intro Update the intro length of the filtered items.
Category Items can be added to a new category or categories.
Genre Items can be tagged as a specific genre or genres.
Vocal gender Items can be tagged with a specific vocal gender.
Tempo Items can be tagged with a specified tempo.
Release date Apply a release year/date to the filtered items.
Tags Apply specified tags to the filtered items.
Custom fields Apply a specified value to one of your custom fields for filtered items.
File path* Update where your automation system can access an item's audio file. (Scheduler does not move any audio; it just tells your automation system where to find it.)
Royalties Apply royalty info like album, composer, publisher or label etc.
Time restrictions Set a specified start/end date/time, as well as other time restrictions like permitted or excluded dayparts.
Notes Add a note to the filtered items.

Actions marked with an asterisk (*) only apply to certain automation systems.

⚠️ Applying a change

Once you have created your mass change by setting up filters and actions, the next step is to take the leap and apply it.

Every item that matches your filter will be updated according to the actions you specified.

The only way to undo a change once applied is to restore your library to a previous backup, which will also revert any other library changes you've made since that backup was created.

Before you apply a change, we recommend taking another backup to ensure that any other changes you've made to your library aren't lost if you need to restore a backup.

Once you confirm you want to apply a change and understand the potential risk, Scheduler will update your library.
