Connecting a LiveStream encoder

This page explains the options you can set when connecting to your streaming server in LiveStream. If you are unsure which options apply to your station, Aiir Streaming customers can check out this guide or you can contact your streaming provider.

Description This is the name of the encoder so you can identify it on the main screen.
Server Type LiveStream can connect to IceCast 1 and 2, ShoutCast v1, and ShoutCast v2 servers.
Hostname or IP The domain/host name or IP address of your streaming server.
Port This is the port you have been assigned for this streaming server endpoint.
SID / Mount Name If you have chosen a ShoutCast server in Server Type, this field will be labelled SID. If you choose IceCast, it will say Mount Name. This is where you enter the associated setting.
Username The username for your streaming SID/mount point.
Password This is the password for your SID/mount point.
Bitrate (kbps) The bitrate at which you want this encoder to stream.
Sample Rate The sample rate at which you want this encoder to stream.
Channels If you wish to stream in mono or stereo.
Encoding Type The codec you want this encoder to use. LiveStream supports MP3, AAC, AAC+, OGG and OPUS.

On the Miscellaneous tab, you can also set additional encoder options:

Start this encoder when LiveStream starts We would recommend that you enable this.
Don't use the DSP / VST processed stream If you want this encoder to bypass DSP / VST processing.
Monitor IP DNS changes If enabled, when LiveStream detects your server mountpoint disconnects/moves to a new IP, it will automatically disconnect and reconnect. This should be disabled if you use Aiir Streaming or any streaming provider which uses load-balancing technology.
