Oops. The wrong logs have been scheduled. How do I fix it?
Mistakes happen to the best of us. Importing logs from a day in the future and leaving a gap is a prime example for music schedulers.
How PlayoutONE responds to this depends on which version you are running and which options have been enabled.
🔁 Re-using the previous week's logs
PlayoutONE v5.1 or newer can automatically re-use previously generated logs as a fallback to keep you on air until someone can schedule the correct logs. If you are missing logs for a Monday, the previous Monday's log can be used instead.
This option isn't enabled by default, but it's easy to set up:
- Open Monitor
- Go to 'Station Settings'
- Go to the 'Alerts' tab
Enable 'Reuse previous week's program log if no log is scheduled' and select your log import folder

With that option enabled, you can then re-import your logs through Auto Importer, and the fallback logs currently being used will be replaced with the correct ones.
If using this feature, ensure the Auto Importer job that imports your logs retains the log files for at least seven days. You can set this in the 'Days to retain files' option on the Details tab when editing your import job.
↪ Skipping ahead
If you don't enable re-using previous logs or are running a version of PlayoutONE before 5.0, your station will skip ahead to the next available logs you have. So if you accidentally ran Tuesday's logs instead of Monday's, at midnight on Monday, PlayoutONE will skip the 24-hour gap and jump ahead into the future.
This can cause issues when you come to re-import the correct logs. As PlayoutONE will be running a day in the future, any newly added log files for today will be treated as though they were for a day in the past and ignored.
To fix that, you will need to return PlayoutONE's log to a point before the logs you were trying to import were due to play. So in our example, you would need to sync the log to a point on Sunday before attempting to re-import Monday's correct logs. To do that:
- Scroll back to a previous day in PlayoutONE's log.
- Right-click an item and click 'Sync to current position'.
- Once you are playing items scheduled before your missing logs, follow these steps to re-import them.
- Once the correct logs have been imported, you can sync the log back to the current time by right-clicking a log item and choosing 'Find nearest to now'.
